Established in 1948 (renamed Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022), the university’s School of Image Arts has offered a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Studies since 1953, making it Canada’s oldest film-degree programme.
The $60 million Image Centre houses a climate-controlled vault of over 375,000 photographs and a 4K cinema. Students access the new Rogers-sponsored LED virtual-production stage shared with CBC.
Festival Achievements
Alumni include Patricia Rozema, Clement Virgo and Vinay Virmani; student shorts premiere yearly at TIFF and SXSW.
